Truly, any particular racism or discrimmation is intolerable. The horrific oppression of Jews during WWII stripped every captured individual of all dignity. Seriously, all I could think of was how could I have owned and own a German made vehicle, what was I thinking.
Anne was born the same year as my father, this didn't occur that long ago for healing and forgiveness to happen in my corner of the world.
How extraordinary was Anne, to pull out of her mind and put on paper, a diary of inner thoughts that would be published for generations and move anyone who reads it.
Personal sufferings still occur in every part of our world, due to religious or race or sexual preference. There is nothing that makes any individual more valuable than another, we are created equal, we each have a gift. The repressive acts of the Germans were unimagineable horrors! Over 103,000 Dutch Jews died during WWII because of their religion.
I couldn't help but think of the Washington DC memorial remembering those who perished in the Koren War, inscribed in the black granite is "Freedom is not Free". I feel like I should dawn a halo of daisies, and beocme a love child of peace. What is so hard about accepting everyone as is and embracing the fact we are all different and that is a really really cool thing.
